The St Vincent de Paul Society NSW (Vinnies) is a community-based, member-led organisation that supports individuals and families experiencing hardship. In times of disaster and crisis, Vinnies provides practical assistance, financial support, and compassionate care to help people recover and rebuild.
Recovery Volunteers may be involved in:
supporting the setup, operation, and pack-down of recovery centres or community hubs
welcoming and supporting people in recovery centres or community hubs
supporting individuals and families impacted by disasters through practical assistance and referrals
assisting with the distribution of emergency relief, vouchers, and essential items
providing a calm, compassionate presence for people experiencing distress or crisis
supporting community recovery activities in coordination with local services and councils
assisting with back-office, administration or coordination support where required
supporting impacted people to access and apply for financial assistance and recovery grants provided by Vinnies
